Spiritual warfare begins with our own way of thinking. Strongholds of the mind, will and emotions must be overcome in order to receive the will of God, the mind of Christ and the joy of the Holy Spirit.

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.” (2 Corinthians 10:4–6, NKJV)

Spiritual weapons are employed to pull down strongholds and overcome the arguments and imaginations that hinder fellowship with God. These spiritual weapons take thoughts captive through correctly hearing and receiving God’s word. As we hear God’s voice and receive His word correctly, faith comes alive in us, we begin closing our ears to the voice of the stranger, and we begin obeying God’s words.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.” (Romans 12:1–3, NKJV)

The transformation comes by the renewing of our minds. This renewing is accomplished through Discipleship 101 or Joshua 1:8: a) keep the War of God in our mouth, b) meditate in it ay and night, c) observe and do it, d) prosper in it, e) succeed because of it.

As we live by faith and renew our minds with the loving words of God, we become examples of people who experience the good (beneficial), acceptable (pleasing), and perfect (complete) will of God.
