God's Passionate Pursuit of You
(A Devotional Reflection)
God is passionate about you.
Not because of what you have done or could do, but because of who He is—good, loving, and abounding in steadfast love toward His children. He describes Himself as gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, and rich in mercy (Psalm 103:8–13; Exodus 34:6–7). Jesus perfectly reveals this heart: the Father sent the Son not to condemn the world, but so that through Him the world might be saved (John 3:16–17). That passion is not distant or conditional; it is personal, covenantal, and settled forever in Christ.
Think for a moment about choices and destinations.
Have you ever purchased an airplane ticket? Once the ticket is bought and you board that specific flight, the destination is no longer open for debate. The plane has been cleared, fueled, and assigned to land in one place. You can desire another city, dream about it, even talk about it—but if you are not on the flight assigned to that destination, you will not arrive there.
Scripture presents the same reality with eternal clarity.
There is only one way appointed for heaven. Jesus Himself declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). He is not one option among many; He is the pre-determined, sovereignly chosen path. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him is life, and that life is the light of men (John 1:3–4).
The good news is not that you must strive to earn a ticket. The good news is that the ticket has already been purchased—at infinite cost—by the blood of Jesus. The flight is ready. The destination is secure. The only question is whether you will board by faith: believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and confessing with your mouth that Jesus is Lord (Romans 10:9–10).
When you do, something profound happens. You are not merely passengers hoping to arrive. You are placed in Christ—seated with Him in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6), made alive together with Him, raised up together, and created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared beforehand (Ephesians 2:4–10). Old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).
This is not about trying harder to be good enough. It is about agreeing with what God has already declared true: you are loved, chosen, redeemed, and destined for glory because you are in the One who is the Way.
God’s passion for you is not waiting for you to arrive—He is already pursuing you, calling you by name, and inviting you to rest in the finished work of His Son. The plane is boarding. The destination is heaven. Jesus is the only flight that lands there—and because of His love, the seat reserved for you has your name on it.
Prayer of AgreementFather, thank You that Your passion for me is rooted in Your unchanging goodness and love. I believe in my heart that Jesus is Your Son, raised from the dead, and I confess Him as Lord of my life. I receive the free gift of salvation and eternal life in Him. Thank You that I am now in Christ—my destination is secure, my identity is settled, and Your Spirit lives in me. Help me live today from this reality, walking in love, authority, and rest. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
