HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Seeking Jesus First Nov. 27, 2025
Here is something amazing to be thankful for - God’s Grace.
“And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.” (John 1:16, NKJV)
“For out of His fullness (abundance) we have all received [all had a share and we were all supplied with] one grace after another and spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing and even favor upon favor and gift [heaped] upon gift.” (John 1:16, AMPLIFIED)
“And now out of his fullness we are fulfilled! And from him we receive grace heaped upon more grace!” (John 1:16, TPT)
“Grace for Grace” or “Grace upon Grace”
The preposition is the Greek word for “anti” - ἀντί anti; a prim. prep., also a pref.; over against, opposite, hence instead of, in comp. denotes contrast, requital, substitution, correspondence:—accordingly(1), because*(4), instead(2), place(1), reason(1).
The Grace of God is competing against the Grace of God to pour out the fullness of God upon those who believe.
The Grace of God is stacking on the Grace of God to pour out the fullness of God on those who believe.
The Grace of God is looking at the Grace of God and comparing notes about how to bless those who believe.
And yet, we who believe have received the fullness of God, and now the grace of God which poured out the fullness is now trying to outdo itself to bring us into more and more favor and blessing.
It all starts and ends with believing in God’s loving word and in his Son, Jesus Christ - The Grace of God.
How can the Grace of God compete against itself? Think of two people who love you who are sitting around talking about the many ways they can show you favor and help you along your path. They are both doing all they can to bless you, but one idea sparks another idea until they are just sitting around laughing about how much they love you.
“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” (2 Corinthians 9:15, NKJV)
“I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given to you by Christ Jesus, that you were enriched in everything by Him…” 1 Corinthians 1:4
