Seeking Jesus First - Oct. 18, 2024
What is our primary spiritual weapon? Is it praise and worship? Is it speaking in an unknown tongue? Is it prayer? Is it faith?
Our primary spiritual weapon is the word of God. “…and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;” (Ephesians 6:17, NKJV)
The Word of God is the sword and faith is the arm that wields it. Really, faith is the heart and mouth that wields it. The sword of the spirit is operate by the heart and mouth. But the weapon that defeats spiritual foes is the word of God. The word of God is the highest authority on any matter because Christ Jesus has been given all authority in heaven and earth. The Father in Heaven gave Him that authority which simply means that The Father had the authority to give Him all authority. Therefore the words of The Father and The Son, Christ Jesus, carry all authority. Thus the weapon of the spirit is The Word of God.
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience (Wrong-hearing) when your obedience (Right-hearing) is fulfilled.” (2 Corinthians 10:4–6, NKJV)
In order to walk in this authority, we must hear the word of God rightly and obey it. If we hear it wrongly, we will use it wrongly; and we will not unleash the power of the Word of God when we use it thus. “For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.” (Hebrews 4:2, NKJV) Jesus said, “take heed how you hear.” We must hear the word of God with the ear and heart of faith. If the word of God is producing 30, 60 or 100 fold in us, we have heard it rightly an have overcome the devil who tried to steal it from us.
