What is the foundation of your faith? Do you believe that Christ Jesus is the Son of God? Do you believe that God loved the world and gave His only begotten Son to save the world from sin? Why do you believe? On what do you base this faith?

We base our faith in The Word of God - The Holy Bible. Yes, we heard a preacher and believed what the preacher said. But what was the preacher preaching? What made their words stir your heart to believe them? The Spirit of God inspired The Word of God to be written, and faith comes by hearing and hearing by The Word of God.

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16–17, NKJV)

Believers must have a foundation in The Holy Bible which gives us a Holy Spirit authored recording of God’s words for all people. We must read, study, memorize and meditate on God’s Word. We must base our faith on The Scriptures.

The Scriptures are profitable for doctrine. Doctrine is not a bad word. It is the understanding of the Scriptures based upon the covenant we have with God through faith in Christ Jesus.

The Scriptures are profitable for reproof and correction. We must allow The Word of God to produce the life of God in us and correct the way we think, speak and act.

The Scriptures are profitable for instruction in righteousness. We are the righteousness of God in Christ by faith. The Scriptures show us how to live out that righteousness that Christ has given to us.

The Scriptures teach, reprove, correct and instruct us that we may be complete in the LORD Jesus Christ and that we might be equipped to do every good work of righteousness that God has before ordained that we should walk in (Eph. 2:10).
