“I and My Father Are One”

Please Read John 10:30–42 (NKJV)

Reflection

The tension reached its peak. After Jesus declared that He and the Father are one, the Jews picked up stones to stone Him for blasphemy. They understood exactly what He was saying — He was claiming equality with God.

Jesus responded calmly: “I and My Father are one.”

This is one of the clearest declarations of His deity in the Gospels. He is not saying He is the Father, but that He and the Father are perfectly united in nature, purpose, and power. He is fully God.

The religious leaders were outraged, but Jesus pointed them back to the evidence of His works: “If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.”

Then He returned to the beautiful security of His sheep: “My sheep hear My voice… I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.”

The same hand that holds the universe holds every one of His sheep. Because Jesus and the Father are one, the security of the believer is unbreakable.

In the Kingdom life, we rest in this glorious reality. Jesus is fully God, and because He is, those who belong to Him are eternally secure. No enemy, no circumstance, and no power in heaven or earth can snatch us out of the Father’s hand.

Application

Today, take time to meditate on this truth: “I and My Father are one.” Renew your mind with the security this brings. If you are facing fear, uncertainty, or attack, remind yourself that you are held in the same hand that created the universe. Let this truth quiet your heart. Then, in response to who Jesus is, choose one way today to honor Him as fully God — through worship, obedience, or bold testimony. Rest in the unbreakable grip of the Father and the Son.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus boldly declared, “I and My Father are one.” Thank You that because He is fully God, we are eternally secure in Your hand. Forgive us for the times we have lived in fear or doubt as though we could be snatched away. Renew our minds today to rest in this glorious truth. Help us live with confidence and holy reverence, knowing that the One who holds us is greater than all. May our lives bring glory to the Son who is one with You. In Jesus’ name, giving thanks for the living Word of the Lord. Amen.
