Seeking Jesus First - Aug. 8, 2023
Who is our source of life?
From where do we draw our life?
Who or what is our “Go To” for what we need in life?
Did you know that God wants to be our source?
Everything that God is, does and has, He desires to share it with us. It is His good pleasure to provide and supply. He is the source of love, light and life, and when He gave us His son, He proved to us that He has freely given us all things. There is no reluctance in His heart. He is willing and able. He desires to interact with those who approach Him in faith. And faith is so important that God even gives us faith with every loving word that He speaks.
God meets us where we are. He doesn’t require us to shower and get dressed before meeting with Him. Whatever He requires of us, He provides the requirement. If God wants you to be righteous, He gives you His. If God wants you to put on “wedding clothes”, He gives them to you. God takes pleasure in making you prosper. God receives glory when we receive His promises. God loves us all. His love for us compels Him to act in our best interest even when we are not acting in our own best interest. God is a the Good Father. He is the definition of a loving and good father.
“But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—” (1 Corinthians 1:30, NKJV)
Look how The Passion Translation breaks that verse down:
“For it is not from man that we draw our life but from God as we are being joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. And now he is our God-given wisdom, our virtue, our holiness, and our redemption.” (1 Corinthians 1:30, TPT)
We are in Him drawing our life from Him. There is a song that we sing: “It’s Your breath in my lungs, so I pour out my praise, I pour out my praise.” God is the source of love, life and light.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.” (James 1:17–18, NKJV)
God has no thought of telling us, “No” to what He has already promised us in His word. “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” (2 Corinthians 1:20, NKJV)
There are times we don’t get what we desire or want. I won’t ask, “Why?” Or try to answer your, “Why?”. God is our Father. If we want answers, the answers have to come out of our relationship with Him. But I won’t try to change The Word to fit my circumstance. I will simply believe that God is my Good Father who only wants good for me because He loves me. I will continue to believe His promises over my experience. When the promise doesn’t manifest, get closer to God and keep reminding Him, through praise and thanksgiving, of His promises.
Turn to the One who is life in every situation. Turn to Him first. Turn to Him continually. Make God your first response. Pray. Pray without ceasing. Stay in relationship with God. Keep listening to Him. Keep speaking to Him with His own words. Listen to what He says and say it. Watch what He does and do it. Make a loving relationship with The Father the number one goal. Seek His face/presence. He is life. He is love. He is light. Eat of Him and drink of Him.
Get to know and experience Him so well that you are led by His eyes. Do this early and often.
Many times, we set God aside until we need something or until we are in trouble. We should call on Him in trouble, but why wait for trouble? Call on Him when you don’t need anything but to know Him better. Go to Him when you are happy and content.
He has been made unto us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption. We put Him on like a garment. We set our eyes on him. We look into His face and are transformed from glory to glory. He is available to us right now.
Open your heart and call on Him.
“Father God, flood my heart with Your love right now. I don’t need anything but Your presence. I just want to experience You. I know You love me, And I love You Father. I trust you. Is there anything that You want to do with me right now? What is on Your heart God? Make my seeing and hearing better toward You. I just want to know You the way You know me. Have Your way. Teach me Your way. Let your love make me one who loves like You.”
Now be still and encounter and know Him. Wait on The LORD. Be quiet for as long as you can stand it and focus your attention on Him. When your mind drifts, look for His face. He is the source of love, light and life and He dwells in us by His Spirit.
