Seeking Jesus First Dec. 16, 2025

Go to church.

And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24–25, NKJV)

He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.” (Matthew 12:30, NKJV)

I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” (Ephesians 4:1–6, NKJV)

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.” (Ephesians 4:11–16, NKJV)

The body of Christ, of which you are a member, needs you in the body and needs you to function properly in the body. God never intended for you to be alone. God gathers His people together. He does not scatter them unless it is for their discipline or protection. A revival is awesome, and we go to revivals whenever and wherever we can, but the revival meetings will end and we need to be faithfully connected to a church family. We need the body and the body needs us. We need the church and the church needs us. We need the closeness of fellowship and unity in the body of Christ. It is virtually impossible to stay connected to Christ without staying connected to His body. Alone, we will only ever get one perspective of Christ. Read those verses again and realize the importance of being plugged in to a church.
