Through faith in Christ Jesus, we have become His house and God’s children. Part Five

The clearest sign that we are of the household of Christ Jesus is our love for one another.

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”” (John 13:34–35, NKJV)

It is only natural that the God who wrote, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (John 3:16–17, NKJV), would tell us that we will be most like Him when we love one another in the same way.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” (1 John 4:7–11, NKJV)

Love is the culture of God’s household. Everyone who loves like God loves is born of God. Knowing God makes us love like God. When we receive the love of God in our hearts by His Spirit who dwells in us, we are empowered by His love to love like He does.Jesus Christ, by love, served us all. By love, we serve each other.

Love:

  • suffers long
  • is kind
  • does not envy
  • does not parade itself
  • is not puffed up
  • does not behave rudely
  • does not seek its own
  • is not provoked
  • thinks no evil
  • does not rejoice in iniquity
  • rejoices in the truth
  • bears all things
  • believes all things
  • hopes all things
  • endures all things

Love never fails.
