Signs of a New and Better Covenant - Part Eight

“Seventy weeks are determined For your people and for your holy city, To finish the transgression, To make an end of sins, To make reconciliation for iniquity, To bring in everlasting righteousness, To seal up vision and prophecy, And to anoint the Most Holy.” (Daniel 9:24, NKJV)

By the time Steven was martyred in Acts 7, these things were complete.

  1. To finish transgression - Parable of The Landowner (Killing the son was finished the transgression) “Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it. And whoever falls on this stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder.”” (Matthew 21:43–44, NKJV)
  2. To make an end of sins - “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:21, NKJV)
  3. To make reconciliation for iniquity - “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NKJV)
  4. To bring in everlasting righteousness - “But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—” (1 Corinthians 1:30, NKJV)
  5. To seal up vision and prophecy - “Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.”” (Luke 24:44, NKJV)
  6. To anoint the Most Holy - “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” (Acts 2:4, NKJV) “If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.” (1 Corinthians 3:17, NKJV)

We are partakers of a better covenant with better promises. We are heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ. Through His Holy Spirit, which is given to us, we are made partakers of His divine nature. All of the promises of God are in Christ Jesus, “Yes”. God has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness. All things are possible to him who believes. God has given us His kingdom. Those who have received the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness do reign in life through Christ Jesus. Every sentence in this paragraph goes with a Scripture. Can you find them?
