Love is the foundation for faithful Christian living. Everything we do by faith must be built upon love.
“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.” (1 Corinthians 13:1–3, NKJV)
All of our words, all of our spiritual gifts, all of our supernatural works, all that we do and give away, are all just religious background noise unless they are motivated by compassion and love.
Love Is Patient.
Love Is Kind.
Love Is Humble.
Love Is Strong.
Love Is Endless.
Love Is Faithful.
Love Is Hopeful.
Love Is Relentless.
Love Is Forgiving.
Love Celebrates Truth.
Love Is Not Envious, Not Rude, Not Selfish, Not Temperamental, Not Evil, and Not Boastful.
In the kingdom of God, faith, hope and love are foundational and will never fade away, but the one that stands out as most important among the main three things in the kingdom of God is LOVE.
Take a look at the characteristics of love and see your love can grow. God has put His love in us so our love will measure up to His love. “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” (Romans 5:5, NKJV)
Pray this prayer from Eph. 3 with me: “Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, grant us, according to the riches of Your glory, to be strengthened with might through Your Spirit in our inner man, that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith; that we, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that we may be filled with all of Your fullness. Father, You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to You be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
