Unity in a church is extremely important.

Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” (1 Corinthians 1:10, NKJV)

The body of Christ is made up go many members. The church is made up of many churches. We are one but we do not all have the same function. When you join a church, it is important to come into unity and speak as one. We do not go to court against each other. We do not backbite or spread stories. We do not accuse each other; that is what the devil does. We do not sow division; that is what the devil does.

We speak to someone in private with gentleness and with The Word of God, “speaking the truth in love.” “Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:1–2, NKJV) “You who are spiritual” is speaking about those who are respected in the church as mature and as leaders. Is is someone that the person is likely to listen to. “People do not care what you know until they know that you care.”

If the brother will not listen, then we escalate by getting another known and respected believer to speak to them with us. “Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.” (Matthew 18:15–17, NKJV)

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”” (John 13:34–35, NKJV)

We restore the person and we forgive the person and we leave no room for the devil’s divisiveness.

Now whom you forgive anything, I also forgive. For if indeed I have forgiven anything, I have forgiven that one for your sakes in the presence of Christ, lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.” (2 Corinthians 2:10–11, NKJV)
