“My Peace I Give to You”

Please Read John 14:25–31 (NKJV)

Reflection

As Jesus continued preparing His disciples for His departure, He gave them one of the most precious promises in all of Scripture:

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

This was not ordinary peace. It was Jesus’ own peace — the deep, unshakable peace that came from perfect oneness with the Father. It was not peace based on circumstances, but peace that could remain even in the middle of storms, betrayal, and suffering.

Jesus also reminded them of the Helper, the Holy Spirit:

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”

The Holy Spirit would be their Teacher, their Comforter, and the One who would remind them of everything Jesus had taught. Because Jesus was going to the Father, the Helper would come to live in them and empower them.

With the cross directly ahead of Him, Jesus was not anxious or afraid. He possessed a deep, supernatural peace that came from perfect obedience to the Father. In the face of suffering, He turned to His disciples and offered them the very peace that sustained Him.

Application

Today, bring any troubled or fearful thoughts to the Lord. Jesus offers you His peace — not the temporary peace the world gives, but the deep peace that comes from knowing you are loved, secure, and indwelt by the Holy Spirit.

Renew your mind with this truth: The Holy Spirit is your Helper, Teacher, and Comforter. Ask Him today to fill you afresh with the peace of Jesus. Let the peace of Christ rule in your heart, even when circumstances are difficult. Choose to obey the Father as Jesus did, trusting that the Helper is with you every step of the way.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Your peace that Jesus left with us. Thank You that it is not the peace the world gives, but His own unshakable peace. Thank You for the precious Helper, the Holy Spirit, who lives in us to teach us and remind us of everything Jesus said. Forgive us for the times we have allowed our hearts to be troubled and afraid. Renew our minds today to receive the peace of Christ. Fill us afresh with the Holy Spirit and let His peace rule in our hearts. Help us to walk in obedience to You, knowing that the Helper is always with us. In Jesus’ name, giving thanks for the living Word of the Lord. Amen.
