What is The Church?

The Church is the body of Christ living in the earth. The Church is The ‘Ekklesia’. It is not just a congregation. The Church is made up of Jesus Christ, in the person of The Holy Spirit, operating as The Head of The Body of Christ in the earth. All believers, disciples of Christ Jesus, filled with Holy Spirit, make up the body of Christ throughout the earth. The Church is, therefore, Spiritual Construct. We are united by one Holy Spirit, The Spirit of God, into One Body of Christ.

What is The Mission of The Church?

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” (Matthew 28:18–20, NKJV)

Disciple the nations.

What is a church?

A church is a microcosm of The Church.

What is the mission of a church?

It is a micro-mission of The Mission of The Church. A church has a leader with a vision of how to reach a city or community. This leader gathers people together to disciple them in accordance with The Great Commission and to reach the rest of the city.

People have told me, “You don’t need to go to church to be saved.” Answer these questions: As church attendance has declined, has the morality of the city increased or declined? Are you more or less likely to grow in your faith if you are not part of a church? Are you more or less likely to participate in the mission of the church if you are not part of a church? Have you ever heard any of these phrases? “Divide and conquer.” “No man is an island.” “Two are better than one and a three-fold cord is not easily broken.”

Nature is full of examples of how predators are more likely to go after something that is alone and unprotected.

Bottom line: Believers need to be a part of a local church with a micro-mission that mirrors The Great Commission.
