Have you come to know your God-given purpose?

For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”” (Esther 4:14, NKJV)

Esther was selected out of all of the beautiful women of the nation to be queen. The king saw her and extended his affection toward her. Because of this, Esther was blessed and pampered and given favor and honor.

However, when Esther was exalted, she had no idea that God was doing it because He wanted someone who loved Him and His people in a place of influence. She was bathing in perfume and roses. She was eating the best and healthiest foods. She was wearing the finest clothes. She was kept safe from harm. And yet, Esther would have to take a risk in order to save her people from destruction.

God exalts the righteous in order to influence the world.  We would rather live a quiet life and worship God the way we want to. We rejoice when we are rewarded with promotion for our hard work. We rejoice when we are exalted. But when our faithfulness over little exalts us to a higher place, we have a responsibility as Christians to influence those around us for the kingdom of God.

Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
