Seeking Jesus First Mar. 17, 2025
The fields are ready to be harvested.
“Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”” (John 4:34–38, NKJV)
“Behold” means to look and see.
“Lift up your eyes” means to stop looking at your phone and start seeing the people around you who are ready to receive the truth.
The harvest is ready because there have been a constant supply of laborers planting and the Spirit of God has been at work in the earth since He was poured out on all flesh in Acts 2:16-17 “But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel, ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh…” Holy Spirit is the one who plants God’s word in the hearts even if it is you speaking. Holy Spirit is the one who increases the growth and prepares the heart for salvation, but they cannot believe unless someone preaches the word.
We should never be discouraged when someone does not receive our testimony because one sows, one waters and another reaps, but God gives the increase. That being said, if we are looking up, we will begin to see the ones who are ready. And if we will listen, we will hear what the Spirit has to say to them that will activate their faith.
Jesus didn’t discuss doctrine with the woman at the well, He just spoke to her about her own condition and life. Be led by the Spirit of God and say what He puts in your heart to say and you will begin to harvest those who are ready.
Behold, lift up your eyes and see those who are ready to receive faith in Christ Jesus. Then speak to them what Holy Spirit gives you to speak, and give them a chance to respond with faith. The fields are ready to be harvested.
