King Solomon is considered the wisest man of ancient times.teaches Do you know the three primary pursuits which he encourages his son to have? Knowledge, understanding and wisdom. Do you remember which one was the principal or highest pursuit?…

Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:7, NKJV)

There are five important questions that people ask. What, Why, how, When and Where.

Consider these questions and how they connect with the three most important pursuits:

“What?” and “How” seems connected to knowledge.

“Why?” seems connected to understanding.

And wisdom seems connected to the final three. How, When and Where?

Knowledge is the simplest of pursuits. Listen, Read, Study, Memorize, Learn.

Understanding requires a deeper experimentation of the knowledge that has been acquired. Understanding requires a person to look deeper into purpose.

Wisdom is the best application of knowledge and understanding.  Wisdom chooses the best time and place.

Actually, wisdom makes the three things into one thing. This is the nature of wisdom. It takes what we know and adds understanding. Then it adds in what we didn’t know or understand and leads us into breakthrough or healing or deliverance or prosperity, as we trust and obey.

Knowledge of leading is important. One can apply this knowledge and hurt to the people being led.

Understanding of the purpose of leading and the people being led also very important. One can understand and still be set in their ways and still hurt people or fail to help them rise to their potential.

A diligent and wise leader takes all of the information and understanding to reach the end goal while helping the people he leads to grow and realize their potential.

Apostle Paul said, “Let the one who leads lead with diligence.”, and “Let him who lacks wisdom ask (in faith without doubting) The Father who shares His wisdom liberally and cheerfully.”

We have access to the one who knows the best application of all knowledge and understanding. No matter what we are trying to do, God will give us wisdom to do it. His Word is the knowledge. Faith is akin to understanding. The leading of The Spirit is the wisdom.

The entrance of God’s Word gives light. The hearing of God’s word gives faith. Being led by Holy Spirit gives wisdom.

How is faith akin to understanding? Faith becomes our “Why” until we see what God’s word can do in us. When we respond to God in faith and do what God’s word says to do by the power and leading of Holy Spirit, the experience gives us understanding. It may be more accurate to say that when we see God’s word working in our lives through our faithful obedience, we understand how good God and His word actually is. We stop questioning His love for us as we see what trusting Him produces.

Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart, And so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.” (Proverbs 3:3–8, NKJV)

  1. What - Keep mercy and truth close to your heart.

How - Wear them around your neck and write them on your heart.

Why - Find favor with God and man.

When and Where - In everything you are doing and everywhere you go.

Trust in the wisdom of God and not the understanding of man, and your path will be clearly marked by God Himself giving you even more understanding.

  1. What - Don’t trust you own eyes and your own understanding.

How - Trust The Lord and depart from evil.

Why - You will be healthier and stronger in every way.

When and Where - In everything you are doing and everywhere you go.

The wisdom of God is ours for the asking. The wisdom of God is the best application of what we know and understand. The wisdom of God leads us to the timing and location of our breakthrough. The leading of Holy Spirit is the wisdom of God. So you can develop your relationship with Holy Spirit and grow in wisdom at the same time.
