“LET” - Part Four
One really good way of looking at the word “LET” is to picture a gate on a fence. The gate opens or closes to allow someone or something in or out. Whoever controls the gate decides what is “LET” in or out.
“Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, LET us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,” (Hebrews 6:1, NKJV)
We are given the freedom to go on to perfection (maturity). Our foundation is faith in God through Christ Jesus which produces right standing with God and turning away from the works of the flesh and following the leading of The Spirit. But maturity is found in those who through faith and patience inherit the promises (See Heb. 6:11)
“Therefore by Him LET us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.” (Hebrews 13:15, NKJV)
“that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.”” (1 Corinthians 1:31, NKJV)
As we grow and mature in Christ Jesus, we walk by faith and patiently offer the sacrifice of praise which is continually confessing the Name and Word of Christ with thanksgiving. We do not glory in our personal wealth, strength or wisdom, but we glory in The LORD, Who has become our strength, wealth and wisdom.
“LET all that you do be done with love.” (1 Corinthians 16:14, NKJV)
“LET brotherly love continue.” (Hebrews 13:1, NKJV)
“LET your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” (Colossians 4:6, NKJV)
“My little children, LET us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.” (1 John 3:18, NKJV)
“Beloved, LET us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” (1 John 4:7–11, NKJV)
The three great core components of The New Covenant through Christ Jesus are faith, hope and love and the greatest of these is love. For us to go on to maturity, we must mature in our love for one another. Love is the primary command of the New Covenant. Faith works by love. Forgiveness works by love. We have hope because of God’s love for us.
- Do everything in love.
- Continue in brotherly love for each other.
- Love with your words and deeds.
- Love in truth.
- The born again experience begins and ends with receiving God’s love and loving others in the same manner as we are loved by God.
- Real love is not that we loved God and he responded to us, but God loved us and we responded to Him.
- Our love for His people is the result of His love for us.
“If we live in the Spirit, LET us also walk in the Spirit.” (Galatians 5:25, NKJV)
The sons of God are led by the Spirit of God. Maturity means walking in love and being led by The Spirit of God.
“For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men. Therefore LET us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another.” (Romans 14:18–19) “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:” (John 1:12)
We are allowed to mature and grow up into Christ Jesus in all things.
“that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:17–19 (NKJV)
