Jesus taught His disciples about a powerful way to get breakthrough. This revelation comes on the heels of several powerful teachings. He shares with them that they are to be like children when approaching God. He tells them not to be a stumbling block for others - especially children. He says to find and restore those who are backslidden and not to allow those who are not in unity to stay in the fellowship. After that, He gives them the amazing and powerful revelation about binding and loosing and the PRAYER of AGREEMENT. There is breakthrough power in unity.

Matt. 18:18-20 “Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven. 19 “Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. 20 “For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.”

“Agree” means to call out with one another in harmony. This kind of prayer is like singing a song together. We are singing the same words. We are harmonizing. We are using the same tempo. We may take turns singing but our music, tempo, songs and words are unified.

When two of us agree on earth concerning anything that we ask, it shall be done.

When two or more of us come together in harmony, God is present. And He is present to do what we ask.

In Christ, “One can put a thousand to flight and two can defeat ten thousand.”

“Two are better than one and a threefold strand is not easily broken.”

John 17:20-23 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.”

There is major release of power when the people of God come into unity with The Father and with each other.

When we come into agreement about the will and word of God, our prayers change.

Our harmonious prayers have authority and power.

I John 5:14-15 “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”

Did you know? The “according to His will” in the above passage, is not an unknown variable in an equation. If we cannot know the will of God, then we cannot know God. If His words do not express His will, then His words cannot be relied upon.

Faith begins where the will of God is known. And when we ask in the manner that God’s will dictates, we know that He hears us., and we know that we have our petition granted.

James 1:6-8 “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”

While James is about the prayer of faith, these prayer revelations overlap.

“According to His will” also means in the manner that His will has specified. We must pray in faith. And we must pray with persistent patient faith. Prayer is not a lottery system. It is how we commune with The Father. It is also how we materialize His Promises in the earth. It is more like a banking system than a lottery system. But that is inaccurate because banking relies only on what we have deposited. It is more like a farming system than a banking system. Because, we use everything that God has provided to materialize everything that God has promised. Selah. Think about that for a minute.

Jesus gave us the revelation that when we pray in agreement, He is there praying with us - or at the very least, He is in our midst hearing our prayer. We know that He is hearing us and we know we have the petition that we have asked.

What breakthrough do you need? Let’s get together in agreement with Jesus in our midst, and let’s pray the will of God together in harmony and watch the obstacles fall and the devil flee as The God of Breakthrough hears us and grants our petition.
