Always be faithful. This is a redundant statement. A person who is unfaithful in any circumstance becomes an untrustworthy steward. A faithful person is always trustworthy. In fact, small situations carry large implications. If you are faithful in little, you will be appointed leader over more.

“Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (Matthew 24:45–51, NKJV)

This does not mean that there is no room for error or mistakes. It means that we remain accountable at all times, owning up to our mistakes. The thing about unfaithfulness is that the person has stopped being faithful. “Faithful” is remaining in faith. We believe, therefore we speak and act according to faith. “Faithful” and “unfaithful” are conditions of the heart.

A faithful Christian will walk in love from the heart. They will be merciful and tenderhearted towards other believers. They will forgive and refrain from speaking evil of others. Scripture warns against allowing a root of bitterness to remain in our hearts. One reason for that is simple. It poisons the heart and produces unfaithfulness.

There is a penalty for unfaithfulness. Very simply put, unfaithfulness steals the rewards from our times of being faithful. Faithfulness earns rewards. God is a rewarder of those who diligently (faithfully) seek Him. However, unfaithfulness disqualifies us from those rewards.

Always be faithful. Be faithful in the little things, be faithful in the big things, and be faithful in all things. Remain in faith and remain in Christ. Abide in Him and faithfully keep His words.
