Seeking Jesus First - Oct. 11, 2022

The Law of Moses came 430 years after The Promise of Abraham. It did not supersede the promise. It was given to a rebellious people who were afraid to draw near to God and desired someone else to do it on their behalf. Fear is not faith or love. When they came to the mountain and told Moses to speak on behalf of God, they chose fear over faith. Under the law, they talked about fearing God above everything else. Jesus brought a “sea change”. The picture of this sea change is demonstrated when Jesus rebuked the wind and seas and calmed the storm. Everything changed. He changed the message from fearing God to being loved by God, and then with His love, drawing near to Him and loving Him and loving one another. In fact, Christ became the curse of the law and gave us the promise and blessing of Abraham.
