A command is an authorization and an empowerment.

In case you wonder if descendant disciples receive the same authorization and empowerment that the original disciples received…

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” (Matthew 28:18–20, NKJV)

Jesus commanded His disciples to make disciples of all the nations and teach them to observe all the same commands that He gave them. Argue if you want, but Jesus was proclaimed King of Heaven and Earth by The “I AM”. Then the King of All commanded His “brothers”, AKA His disciples, AKA the apostles, to make disciples and teach them to do all that Jesus commanded them to do.

A command is empowerment AND authorization. Anything and everything that Jesus commanded His disciples to do is now commanded to His descendant disciples. The disciples are destined to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ who is the FIRSTBORN among many BRETHREN.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” (John 14:12, KJV 1900)

“Shall” - Future Tense, Strong assertion or intention which expresses a command.

Jesus said that those who believe in Him “shall” do greater works, because He is going to the Father. Jesus will not be here, so His disciples were to do what He did in His place, and even go beyond what He did. 1 John 4 says that the love of God has been completed in us, because “as He is, so are we in the earth.”

When you read what Jesus commanded the disciples, ask and pray, “Holy Spirit, is this command for me too? How do I apply it to my life? Help me to receive all of God’s words as life, light and love. Help me to do all that The LORD Jesus desires me to do. As my faith increases, I will use the faith that You give me to move forward in loving obedience.”
