Seeking Jesus First Sep. 26, 2025

The truth revealed by Jesus Christ is the spirit of prophecy.

For no prophecy ever originated because some man willed it [to do so—it never came by human impulse], but men spoke from God who were borne along (moved and impelled) by the Holy Spirit.” (2 Peter 1:21, AMP)

Then I fell prostrate at his feet to worship (to pay divine honors) to him, but he [restrained me] and said, Refrain! [You must not do that!] I am [only] another servant with you and your brethren who have [accepted and hold] the testimony borne by Jesus. Worship God! For the substance (essence) of the truth revealed by Jesus is the spirit of all prophecy [the vital breath, the inspiration of all inspired preaching and interpretation of the divine will and purpose, including both mine and yours].” (Revelation 19:10, AMP)

Prophecy is borne along by the Holy Spirit. We do not prophesy according to the will of the flesh because sons of God are led by the Spirit of God.

Prophecy carries the testimony of the Word of God. We do not prophesy without Scripture or the testimony of Christ, because we have determined not to know one another after the flesh but by the spirit.

Prophecy expresses the will of God. We do not prophesy to get our own will accomplished, because those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh and it’s lusts.

Prophecy is full of the love of God. We do not prophesy out of anger or harshness, because speaking the truth in love we all grow up into Him who is the head, even Christ.

Prophecy has its foundation in faith. We do not prophesy the current circumstance, because we call those things that be not as though they were already existing.

If one is prophesying by The Spirit of God, it will agree with the Word of God and the Spirit of Christ. It will not condemn, but it will build up. It will carry the love of God and inspire faith in the one who hears it, producing hope.

Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men. He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church. I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification.” (1 Corinthians 14:1–5, NKJV)
