A person’s actions can disqualify their profession.

“For there are many insubordinate, both idle talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole households, teaching things which they ought not, for the sake of dishonest gain. One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, not giving heed to Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn from the truth. To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.” (Titus 1:10-16)

To live by faith is to walk by faith. To live and walk by faith is to act and speak according to your faith. If my words and works defy my faith, my faith is nonexistent. Faith without corresponding action is dead.

Our faith says, “He personally bore our sins in His [own] body on the tree [as on an altar and offered Himself on it], that we might die (cease to exist) to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed.” (1 Peter 2:24, AMP)

And, “Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation.” (Romans 10:9–10, AMP)

We believe that we are made righteous through faith in Christ Jesus. Therefore, living by faith produces the righteousness of God in our faith walk. By faith, we believe God’s word. By faith, we declare God’s word. By faith, we obey God’s word. By faith, we follow Christ Jesus. By faith, we obtain the promises given to us by the word of God. The removal of sin from our consciousness by the blood of Christ gives way to the mind of Christ; so, we are able to think, speak, and act like God as dear children, empowered by God’s Holy Spirit in us, and authorized by God’s word concerning us.

Don’t let your walk disqualify your profession of faith.
