We are transformed by the renewing of our minds. If we wish to cast off the works of darkness, we can start by casting off the words of darkness. Adopt the language of faith, hope and love, which is the language of the kingdom of God.

“And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.” (Romans 13:11–14, NKJV)

Put on Christ. Put on His way of thinking, speaking and doing. God, through His word, has declared that we have been given the mind of Christ. With His mind, we have His thoughts. With His thoughts, we have His words. With His words, we have His purposes and intentions. Holy Spirit is the key to thinking, speaking and doing like God. The sons of God are led by the Spirit of God. Self Control is conceived in the spirit and birthed in the soul (mind, will and emotions).
