SJF - Daily Worship, Word and Spirit - Dec. 13, 2023

When a person puts their faith in Christ Jesus and His word, the word of God forms a shield around them. The LORD becomes our shield and our exceeding great reward.

“As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.” (Psalm 18:30, NKJV)

God’s ways are perfect and right, and His words are proven. They are wholly beneficial to us in every way. Faith in Him and His word is not a mental assent to the goodness of God. “God is good all the time.” Faith is the complete and systematic replacing of our ways, words and thoughts with His ways, words and thoughts. We do believe in God. We do believe His word is true and faithful as He is Himself. So we receive the mind of Christ, casting down thoughts that challenge His LORDSHIP. We set our ears, hearts and minds to hear, receive and obey Him because He is Good and He is God. We do this and it is right. But we never lose sight that He is our LOVING FATHER who is holding our hand all the time. He surrounds us with Himself as a shield because we trust Him. We are trying to please Him knowing that He is pleased with us already through Christ Jesus. We are simply following Daddy around and imitating Him as much as we can. He loves us and we love Him back. It is right to put effort into pleasing the one you love.
