Apostle Paul makes the comparison of childhood in the flesh to childhood in Christ. He points out to us that, as we mature in the love of Christ, our selfish desires begin to be put away. “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.” (1 Corinthians 13:11, NKJV)
This suggests many things to us as we grow into Christ’s maturity here on earth:
- We begin seeing things from the perspective of Christ.
- We walk in a different level of spiritual authority as mature sons of God - authority with wisdom.
- We are as concerned for the needs of others as we are for our own.
- We are moved with compassion to see others receive the love of God and all that Christ has purchased for them.
- We are not offended by children who still carry around childish things because it wasn’t long ago that we did too.
What other things come to mind for you? There are so many more!
