Can believers deceive themselves?
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” (Galatians 6:7–9, NKJV)
When believers read The Word of God that has been passed down to us from the apostles and disciples who walked and talked with Jesus Christ, and then choose to believe something different, they are deceiving themselves. I’ve done it. I’ve made excuses and reasons to keep my own way of thinking over the years. But I believe that I am willing to yield to Holy Spirit who makes The Word of God come alive to faith in our hearts.
Funny thing about deception. A deceived person does not know they are deceived. This is why we read the Bible every day and spend time in God’s presence and listen to The Spirit of God in us. Holy Spirit is our Peace, our Comfort, our Teacher, our Christ in us. Because of Holy Spirit, we receive anointing, wisdom, power, understanding and so much more. Make a point every day to Pray with the spirit and pray with the understanding and read The New Covenant and sow to The Spirit.
