What does faith look like? Jesus told a parable in Luke 18, “that men always ought to pray and not lose heart.”
“There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man. Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’ And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man, yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’ ” Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”” (Luke 18:1–8, NKJV)
Look at how Jesus finishes this parable. Will I this kind of find faith on the earth when I come?
Jesus talks about faith that will not let up until it gets what it desires. Jesus doesn’t talk about what God desires when He talks about faith. He talks about what we desire. Do you want to know why? Because God has already expressed His desire in His word. The woman in the parable was asking for justice according to the law. She had a right to that justice because the law was plain. God’s word is God’s will. We must keep bringing His word before Him day and night unto we get what we desire according to His word. We bring it to Him with expectation and with thanksgiving because He is not an unjust judge. Do you have this kind of persistent faith? Are you willing to stand on his word until it is performed?
Jesus desires us to have this kind of faith. God has given us this God-kind of faith. Will we use it or will we say, “Well, you never know if God will keep His word, because it may not be His will.”? No God is faithful to watch over His word and perform it. Be faithful. Persevere. Be patient. Keep on putting God’s own words before Him. Keep them in your heart and in your mouth. Don’t give up on God’s word. Stand firm until they manifest.
