In order to fight spiritual battles, we must do what we need to do in order to hear God rightly. What do you need to do to hear God rightly? It really depends on your relationship with God. That being said, we must give our attention to hearing God. Does God have to shout to get your attention? Or, is your relationship with Holy Spirit such that you can be guided by a look. Psalm 32:8 tells us how a loving father will lead us with His eyes. He will make eye contact in order to instruct us from heart to heart. When God gave us His Holy Spirit, He made permanent eye contact with us. In Scripture, the phrase face to face is synonymous with presence. When we have His presence, we have eye contact.

Eye contact symbolizes full attention. God has our full attention and we have God’s full attention. Spiritual battles are won when we maintain eye contact with God because the real battle is to to maintain eye contact with God through any situation or circumstance.

Stay in God’s presence by staying aware of God’s presence. Respond to Him in the same way you want Him to respond to you.
