Conscience - Part Six
“I have hope in God, which they themselves also accept, that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust. This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men.” (Acts 24:15–16, NKJV)
A good conscience is born in the kingdom of God concepts of faith, hope and love. We keep faith with God, and we walk in love with people. Walking by faith and walking in love produces a pure conscience.
Past: “how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” (Hebrews 9:14, NKJV)
Present: “…For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins.” (Hebrews 10:2, NKJV)
Future: “By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” (Hebrews 10:10, NKJV)
Daily: “let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:22–23, NKJV)
It seems that our daily battle is to accept what Christ has done for us: past, present and future. To let our conscience be cleansed. To let our mind be renewed. To let the mind of Christ be in us. To not think it robbery to be one with God through Christ Jesus.
We can live our lives with a pure conscience before God because of the blood of Christ. While the Old Covenant carried condemnation, the New Covenant does not. Father God has willingly and freely offered us His New Covenant Kingdom. (Read the next sentence slowly.) However, the absence of faith, hope and love,(which is the culture of the New Covenant kingdom of God), in our heart, speech and actions, produces a condemning mindset and an evil conscience.
