What is it about encountering “The I AM” for myself that changes my life? When God shows up in my life and meets a need or gives me faith to overcome in a specific way, I will never look at that kind of circumstance in the same way. I will know that I can overcome it through faith in Christ Jesus. This gives me a higher degree of hope for the future. More importantly, I develop my confidence in and dependence on God and His Word. My relationship with God deepens and strengthens and I will expand my trust in Him and in His Word to include other problems, needs, and areas of my life.
Invariably, we will all face something that seems to take a long time to overcome and God will say something like, “My grace is sufficient for you.” Some will take this statement as a reason to back off and accept the situation. They will trust in God’s grace to move forward in the love of God without overcoming the actual problem. Others will hear the statement, “My grace is sufficient for you,” as an empowerment to press by faith into the promises of God and not let go even if it takes a really long time. Example: Abraham receiving the promise of his son Isaac.
One grows the ability to endure. The other overcomes through faith and patience. “According o your faith, be it unto you.” We may have the tendency to judge someone else according to our faith. “They should do what I do.” Instead, let us encourage one another in the love of God. When we overcome something, our testimony can inspire the one who is enduring. We can share our victory with them. Their endurance will inspire us to keep our hearts right no matter the circumstance.
