“We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers, remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father,” (1 Thessalonians 1:2–3, NKJV)
Faith works,
Love labors, motivates, and empowers.
Hope patiently waits and perseveres with expectation of good.
Faith plants the seed,
Love grows the fruit,
Hope awaits the harvest.
This describes how we receive God’s promises, but it also describes leading people to Jesus.
Faith without works is dead. Faith prepares the ground, plants the seed, waters it, and pulls weeds. Love is the reason faith does so much. Hope helps us picture the harvest and what we, or what God, will do with it.
“And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13, NKJV)
“But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.” (1 Thessalonians 5:8, NKJV)
