Part One - Grow Strong in Spirit
“The spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord, Searching all the inner depths of his heart.” (Proverbs 20:27, NKJV)
“The strong spirit of a man sustains him in bodily pain or trouble, but a weak and broken spirit who can raise up or bear?” (Proverbs 18:14, AMP)
“If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small.” (Proverbs 24:10, NKJV)
How does one become strong in spirit?
The Scriptures tell us that both John the Baptist and Jesus “grew and became strong in spirit.” (Luke 1:80 and 2:40)
What does one do to become strong in spirit?
First, we must realize that we are spiritual beings who possess a soul and live in a temporary physical body. Understand the answer to this question: Who is the real you? You are not your soul. Your soul belongs to you. You are not your body. Your body is a temporary dwelling place.
Second, we must realize that all of the words of God produce life, health, wealth and success. We must receive his words for our own. Adopt the language of God as our own. All of God’s words are full of faith, hope and love. All of our words shall be faith, hope and love.
Third, we must keep His words in our mouth, and meditate in them day and night, that we may observe and do them.
Jesus commanded, “In patience, possess your soul.” We are not led by our soul. We are led by the spirit. We do not follow after the works of the flesh. We produce the fruit of the spirit. “The fruit of the” (born again) “spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, goodness and self control.”
