Part Three - Grow strong in spirit.
The bare minimum for spiritual growth:
For healthy spiritual growth, we must do the following daily as a bare minimum:
- Rest in the completed work of Christ Jesus
- Eat of the Word of God
- Drink of the Spirit of God
- Plant- Speak God’s Words
- Work- Obey God’s Words
- Stretch- Reach beyond your current capacity for reaching. Faith in God.
- Bathe- When you sin, repent and receive forgiveness and cleansing from all unrighteousness.
When a person wants to grow strong in spirit so that they be able to stand against adversity, it is important to use God’s strength which is yours.
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:10–11, NKJV)
Mental Picture: I am standing and trying to reach something that is over my head and it is five feet beyond the reach of my arms. I need something to stand on. If I choose to stand on paper, it will take a lot of paper. Or, I could just use one ladder.
The ladder in the picture represents The Word of God. Choosing to use the ladder is wisdom. Having access to a ladder is preparation.
We must eat God’s Word. We must read, memorize and meditate on The Word of God. This is preparation. We put God’s Word in our heart by reading, memorizing and meditating on it. Then, in the day of need, our heart gives God’s Word to our mouth and we are able to reach things that require supernatural strength.
