Part Four - Grow strong in spirit.

The fruit of the spirit are the fruit of the born again spirit. As you grow strong in spirit, you produce these fruit out of your inner man. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” Gal. 5:22-23. If we are not exhibiting these fruit, we are not walking in the spirit or being led by the spirit. Self-control is a fruit of a strong spirit. In your “inner man”, you have the ability to control your flesh.

So measure the strength of your inner man by paying attention to what you are manifesting.

Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.” (Proverbs 4:23, NKJV) Keep means, “To hold; to retain in one’s power or possession; not to lose or part with”. It is related to what Jesus said, “By your patience possess your souls.” (Luke 21:19, NKJV) Patience is a fruit of the spirit. Jesus said, “By YOUR patience, possess your souls.” Jesus doesn’t give impossible commands.

As a born again spiritual being, you may be mature or immature. However, you are able to grow strong in any case. What choices are you making? Start right where you are and do the minimums for spiritual growth. Adopt God’s words as your own. Train yourself in The Word of God. Memorize and Meditate on The Word of God. Pray The Word of God. Worship Jesus in your quiet time every day.

Pray with the spirit man. “But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,” (Jude 20, NKJV) The spirit man can pray with groaning and with a known language, but Holy Spirit can pray in unknown languages and in the language known only by God. Praying from the spirit in a language you don’t understand is complete reliance on Holy Spirit and your inner man. This is why faith increases when we do it. We are trusting God to handle all of the intercession between Holy Spirit and Himself according to Romans 8:26-28. We alternate between praying and singing in the spirit and praying and singing in the understanding. This open pathways of understanding between soul and spirit. Eph. 1:17-18 and 1 Cor. 14:15.
