Part Five - Grow strong in spirit.

Growing strong in spirit is growing strong in faith.

Proverbs 3:5-6 is about faith in God. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

We need to get to know the voice of our spirit as well as the voice of Holy Spirit. Our inner man is the eternal spiritual being that possesses a soul. That means my inner man speaks. We each have an inner voice. When a person is spiritually weak, the soul possesses the spirit - “leaning to its own understanding”. Or worse, a lie or something demonic may have a stronghold in the soul. The soul will use reason, feelings, and stubbornness to do things. However, our strong and mature spirit will train and renew the soul with the help of God’s Holy Spirit and Transforming Word.

The born again spirit is righteous and holy and capable of producing everything that Jesus produced while here on earth. Just as Jesus relied on Holy Spirit, our born again spirit relies on Holy Spirit. When you, as a born again spiritual being, receive Holy Spirit, the unity is like a marriage. The two become one but they are still distinct. We begin learning to act in harmony because of that unity. Our inner voice begins to agree with God rather than with our un-renewed soul, and our inner man possesses our soul and the soul gets renewed as we adopt the mind of Christ.

Remember, this is done by 1) keeping the word of God in our mouth, 2) meditating on it day and night, and 3) observing and doing the word of God. Add to this the empowerment of Holy Spirit and we become unstoppable at growing strong in spirit and in wisdom and in spiritual stature - just like The LORD Jesus Christ. And we become like great big oak trees in the spirit - planted by God - grounded in His Word - and full of His Spirit.
