Part Two - God’s words in our mouths
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.” (2 Corinthians 10:4–6, NKJV)
“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;” (Ephesians 6:17, NKJV)
The weapons of our warfare are God’s Words. The Word of God is the weapon of the Spirit. Whether we are talking about the inner man or the Holy Spirit, the weapon that overcomes the devil and the flesh is the Word of God. Speaking is warfare in the spirit realm. Speaking is an action. In fact, speaking is the primary action of authority. Authority is expressed by words and enforced by power.
Christ Jesus is entrusted with all authority in heaven and earth. All of God’s words belong to Christ Jesus. All authority rests with Him. Christ Jesus only said what He heard the Father say. This is the source of authority. One under authority only says what he has authority to say. When someone speaks outside of their authority, it is called usurpation, which is the unlawful taking of authority. If we want to grow in authority, we should only say what we are authorized to say. He who is faithful in little will also be faithful in much.
God’s word is a weapon against the darkness. If I were to pick up a literal sword and wield it, I would be unskilled because I have never used one. In order to be skilled in The Word of God, we must begin to speak it and do it. We must keep God’s words in our mouth and meditate on them day and night which empowers us to do them. This will make us skilled in using the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
