Part Eleven - God’s words in our mouths
Who is the highest example to believers? The only begotten Son of God, Christ Jesus. Hebrews 12:2 “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…”. Jesus Himself said, “For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak.”” (John 12:49–50, NKJV)
Do we speak on our own authority? Do we give our own opinion? Do we “tell people like it is” according to our own understanding? Do we bless sometimes and curse sometimes? If we do, we are forfeiting the authority of The Father that Christ Jesus walked in and we are forfeiting the authority that Christ Jesus extends to us.
In order to walk in the authority and power of Christ, The Anointed One and His anointing, we must keep His words in our mouths and only say what we are authorized to say by His Holy Spirit who is in us and with us. Apostle Paul, speaking of his authority in Christ, said “We are ambassadors for Christ…”. An ambassador only says what he is authorized to say, because he is not speaking for himself. An ambassador speaks on behalf of the kingdom he represents.
This level of authority is not given to everyone. To receive ambassador level authority, you must be faithful over little. When we are faithful to God’s Words in the little and big areas of our own personal lives, we start discovering new levels of authority when we speak into others. Your own life is your proving ground. “But speaking the truth in love, we grow up into the head - even Christ.” (Read Ephesians 4:14-5:2)
