The Word of God is alive and powerful. Keep God’s word in your mouth and meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do all of it, then you will make your way prosperous and you will have good success.

Take a look at what faith looks like: We will see it in the centurion and in Jesus.

”Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.” And Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.” The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, (or “Speak the word only), and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel! And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.” (Matthew 8:4–13, NKJV)

What are the characteristics of faith?

  1. Understanding that the authority of Jesus is enough to deal with the problem at hand.
  2. Believing that there is power in the words of Jesus
  3. Speaking only the word of Jesus is enough to accomplish the solution

“Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come. “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” (Matthew 12:31–37, NKJV)

Life and death is in the power of the tongue, therefore:

  1. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks
  2. This is why we are told to meditate in God’s word day and night
  3. A persons own words are enough to grant life or death
  4. Words are either good treasures or evil treasures that bring forth either good things or evil things
  5. We will give account for every word we speak - even those words which are spoken in jest
  6. You will either be justified or condemned by your words

Speaking of Jesus, John the Baptist said in John 3:34, “For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.

In John 6:63, Jesus said, “The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life”

Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.” (John 14:10–11, NKJV)

When we speak the words of The Father from the position of Christ as a son, we speak with The Father’s authority and with The Anointed King’s authority. However, if we expect our words to carry His authority, we must align ourselves with Him, Be submitted to Him, Accept His authority over us, Obey Him. If His words are not enough to command us, how will they carry authority when we speak them?

  1. We must be under authority to have authority.
  2. We must be within authority to use authority.
  3. We must honor authority to walk in authority.
  4. God’s words give us authority to carry out God’s words.

Be diligent (Study) to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness.” (2 Timothy 2:15–16, NKJV)

The heart of the righteous studies how to answer, But the mouth of the wicked pours forth evil.” (Proverbs 15:28, NKJV)

  1. We study God’s word to understand our authority (among other things - I am speaking of God’s word and the importance of speaking only God’s word)
  2. We study to pass the test
  3. When we have received God’s word rightly, we have heard it rightly because Holy Spirit has revealed it to us rightly, we understand how to apply it rightly
  4. We do not need to be ashamed of the word of life
  5. We do not need to be ashamed of the gospel of the kingdom of God for it is the power of God to salvation - the power that delivers, heals, saves and blesses.
  6. We do noted to be afraid to speak the word of God
  7. We study God’s word to know how must answer any situation with God’s word.
