Under the Flow

Under the Flow

A vessel once held many things-

yesterday’s contents,

old residue,

the stains

of what lingered too long.

Scooping water in

and pouring it out

changed very little.

A quick rinse

left the marks untouched.

The container still remembered

what once lived inside.

But when it was placed

under pure,

running water—

not splashed,

not scrubbed in anger,

not forced—

just held there—

the water did not argue

with the dirt.

It did not shame

the stains.

It did not rush

the process.

It simply

kept flowing.

And slowly,

without striving,

without effort,

what was once clouded

became clear.

What was once mixed

was washed.

What was once stained

was made clean.

Not because the container

tried harder,

but because it stayed

under the flow.

So it is with us.

We are not purified

by scrubbing the heart,

but by abiding in Christ.

Not by striving for holiness,

but by remaining

under the continual flow

of His life and His love.

Holiness is not achieved by force—

it is preserved

by staying

under the flow.
