Living by Faith: From Belief to Kingdom Action
Key Scripture: Hebrews 11:1
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Intro: Setting the Foundation
Tonight, we’re talking about faith—not as a concept, but as a lifestyle.
Faith is one of the most familiar words in the Christian life, yet often one of the most misunderstood. Many believers believe in God but struggle to live by faith.
Faith is not:
-Positive thinking
-Religious optimism
-Emotional confidence
Faith is trust in God that moves us to obedience, even when we cannot see the outcome.
Faith is how the Kingdom of God operates.
Faith is how promises are accessed.
Faith is how transformation happens.
1: What Faith Really Is
Hebrews 11:1 revisited
Faith has two dimensions:
Substance – something real, not imaginary
Evidence – proof before manifestation
Faith is not waiting for proof.
Faith is the proof before the thing shows up.
Romans 10:17
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Faith is received, not manufactured.
It grows when we:
-Hear God’s Word
-Meditate on God’s promises
-Speak in agreement with God’s truth
This is why devotionals, Scripture affirmations, and journaling are powerful—they train our faith daily.
2: The Difference Between Belief and Faith
Many believers stop at belief, but faith goes further.
Belief agrees that God can
Faith acts as if God will or God has
James 2:17
“Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”
Faith without action is dormant.
Action is not striving—it is obedient response.
Faith says:
-“I will forgive before I feel healed.”
-“I will give before I see increase.”
-“I will obey before I understand.”
3: Faith Is Tested in the Waiting
Hebrews 6:12
“Through faith and patience we inherit the promises.”
Faith is not proven when things happen quickly.
Faith is revealed when time passes and circumstances don’t change.
Waiting seasons expose:
-What we truly trust
-What voices we are listening to
-Whether our faith is anchored in God or outcomes
Isaiah 40:31
“They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…”
Waiting does not weaken faith—it refines it when we remain anchored in God.
4: Speaking Faith – The Power of Confession
Proverbs 18:21
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”
Faith must be spoken, not just felt.
That’s why daily scriptural affirmations matter:
-They align our words with heaven
-They silence fear and doubt
-They reinforce Kingdom identity
Example:
“I trust God completely, even when I cannot see the outcome.”
What we consistently say reveals what we truly believe.
5: Faith Activates the Kingdom
Jesus repeatedly said:
“According to your faith, let it be done to you.”
Faith does not limit God—but it positions us to receive.
Faith:
-Activates healing
-Releases provision
-Produces endurance
-Strengthens obedience
-Faith is the currency of the Kingdom.
Tonight, faith is not just something to admire—it’s something to practice.
Ask yourself:
Where is God asking me to trust Him more deeply?
What step of obedience have I delayed?
What promise do I need to speak over my life again?
Faith Declaration (Lead Congregation Aloud)
“I live by faith, not by sight.
I trust God completely.
His promises are true,
and I walk in obedience to His Word.
My faith is active, growing, and anchored in Christ.
Amen.”
“Lord, strengthen our faith. Teach us to trust You beyond what we can see. Help us to walk boldly in obedience, anchored in Your Word, confident in Your promises. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
