Seeking Jesus First Oct. 15, 2024
How do you pray against oppression and aggression when you need God’s strength to overcome? “The LORD is with you while you are with Him.” (2 Chronicles 15:1-2)
1. Believe in God.
2. Align yourself with Him and trust that He is with you.
3. Stand against injustice and the works of the evil one.
4. Go into battle expecting God to fight for and with you.
“And Asa cried out to the Lord his God, and said, “Lord, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O Lord our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude. O Lord, You are our God; do not let man prevail against You!”” (2 Chron 14:11, NKJV)
Believers, if you want God’s authority and power working on your behalf, work on His behalf. Humble yourself. Submit to God. Start talking and acting like God acts. Start thinking like God thinks. This requires us to get to know The LORD. This means we read His Word, worship in spirit and truth, and wait on The LORD who is our strength.
Someone may ask, “Why is that necessary if God is sovereign and controlling everything that happens?” The answer is too simple for that person to believe. If God used his authority to control everything that happens, His Word would not tell us to do anything.
However, we see in Christ Jesus a Heavenly Father who desires relationship with us. He gives us a choice to “draw near to Him” and He requires faith “to please Him”. “The LORD is with us while we are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you. If you forsake Him, He will forsake you.” The LORD is patient and merciful, and He will not always strive with us.
Christ Jesus changed everything. God interacts with us on a different level than He interacted with Israel under The LAW of Moses. He interacts with us more on the level that He did with Abraham - as a friend, and, after Christ’s resurrection, even more on the level that He interacted with Christ Jesus - as a beloved son. The Holy Spirit of The LORD dwells in us as He did in Christ Jesus. The sons of God are led by His Holy Spirit which abides in them. Read The Word. Be strong in spirit. Be continually filled with HOLY SPIRIT. Keep The Word of God in your mouth. Resist evil. Do the righteous works of Christ. Love one another. Forgive. Lay anointed hands on the sick. Cast out demons with your words. Disciple the nations. Teach them to follow you as you follow Christ.
