Seeking Jesus First Mar. 11, 2025

What you are going through right now is temporary.

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:17–18, NKJV)

Temporary things are subject to change. Temporary things don’t come to stay. They come to pass. This is why we do not allow temporary things to determine our frame of mind, our words or our actions. We base our frame of mind on the mind of Christ. We base our conversation on the word of God. We base our actions on love and the leading of The Spirit.

This is why God is described like this: “…—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did;” (Romans 4:17, NKJV) And, “Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,’” (Isaiah 46:9–10, NKJV)

And we are like Our Heavenly Father in that, “But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:8–10, NKJV)

When does a person confess Christ? They confess Christ when they believe. They confess Christ to receive salvation. Salvation comes when they believe and confess. The kingdom of God is faith activated. If we are parking the car in the garage, we open the door first. We drive into our driveway and click the button that opens the garage door. We don’t complain that the door is closed when we approach it. We simply activate the mechanism that opens the door.

Our faith activates the grace of God in our lives. Our faith activates God’s word in our lives. Our faith activates the promises of God in our lives. There is no remote control except for our own heart and voice. We believe and therefore we speak. We become the prophet of our own lives when we declare the word of The LORD. The word of The LORD is what He has declared - He already declared the end before it even started. His word is eternal.
