Does the Bible teach us how to prosper?
Simply, Yes.
Does the God empower us to prosper?
Again, Yes.
God gives us both the anointing and the principles to prosper.
“And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” (Deuteronomy 8:18, NKJV)
This word for “power” is ‘koah’. It is translated, “strength” 58 times in the Bible, and “power” 47 times, but it is also translated as might, force, ability, substance and wealth.
In The Old Covenant, God gave His covenant partners the power to get wealth for the purpose of establishing and confirming His covenant in their lives. We have discussed many times that The New Covenant established in the blood of Jesus Christ is a better covenant with better promises. “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” (2 Corinthians 1:20, NKJV)
In Christ, we are given power to get wealth for the establishing and confirming of the covenant and kingdom of God in us. God gives power to get wealth. God blesses us. God speaks a Word of blessing over us. God has given us every spiritual blessing available in the heavenly realm. Every possible good word from God has been declared over us. These words are the power to be successful.
There is nothing on God’s side of the covenant that is holding us back from these good words and promises. “saying, “Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.” And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.” (Hebrews 6:14–15, NKJV) “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23, NKJV) “For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:” (Hebrews 10:36, NKJV)
We are blessed by God with the power to get wealth in the earth.
What does the Bible teach about getting wealth? The Bible teaches that wealth is acquired and poverty is avoided:
- Through the work of our hands - business
- Through sowing and reaping - work
- Through sowing and reaping - giving
- Through sowing and reaping - words
- Through generational faithfulness - inheritance
- Through faithful adherence to God’s will for your life - obedience
- Through hearing and obeying God - wisdom
- Through staying out of debt - liberty
- Through walking by faith - faithfulness
- Through staying faithful to the wife of your youth - chastity
- Through keeping your word - integrity
- Through defeating your enemies - victory
- Through fellowship (and partnering) with believers - unity
- Through kindness to the poor - generosity
There may be other things that promote wealth from Scripture but these categories truly impact every aspect of your horizontal life in this world. The cross represents a vertical relationship with The Father and a horizontal relationship with what is going on in the earth. If we maintain the vertical relationship, our horizontal relationships will experience greater and greater supernatural flow. The life received from The Father will flow into everything we do in the earth. This will produce life in what we are doing.
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and [that your body] may keep well, even as [I know] your soul keeps well and prospers.” (3 John 2, AMP)
