What has God accomplished through the life, death, burial, resurrection and ascension of The Lord Jesus? This is so much that it can be heard to answer it. I think we spend our faithful lives learning and believing the answers, implications and applications.
We could start with what Jesus accomplished on our behalf.
- “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:21, NKJV)
- “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NKJV)
- “Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,” (2 Corinthians 5:18, NKJV)
Jesus became the sin that we had and died on the cross. He then freely offered His righteousness to all who believe. This simply means that sin is not able to send us to hell. Only unbelief can separate us from God. Righteousness is by faith. We are in right-standing relationship with God through His grace and our faith. Both were free gifts to us from God so that we can only boast in how good is God and how awesome is His love for us. That being said, we have been reconciled to God. We are in Him and He is in us. Let’s stop seeing ourselves as sinners because we have accepted what God has done through Christ Jesus on the cross. I know that this is difficult because we still sin from time to time. However, because of what Jesus had done, the real us, our inner spiritual being, is full of light, life and love, even while the body and soul seem to be impure.
