Who enters into fellowship with God? King David asked, “Who is able to ascend the hill of The LORD?” Then David answered and said, “Those with clean hands and pure hearts...” Thank God for Christ Jesus who has cleansed our hands and purified our hearts with His sacrifice and shed blood. It is those who receive through faith, what Christ Jesus has done, who may enter into the presence (face) of God.
“Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.” (Acts 2:41–43, NKJV)
Luke wrote in Acts that those who received the good news being preached by the apostles were saved. Then they did something amazing! They stayed together and devote themselves to the teachings of the apostles. They entered into fellowship and ate together. They continued, or abided in, fellowship through the breaking of bread and praying. It seems to me that the breaking of bread includes The Lord’s Communion. But whether or not it does, they sought God together. They came into unity and touched God’s face and heart.
How do we know that the presence of God was there? The reverential fear and awe of God came over every soul and they began to experience signs and wonders. Take note that they believed and gladly received the apostle’s words, they continued in the teaching and the fellowship with the apostles, they encountered the glory of God, and then they encountered signs and wonders. We can do the same.
