Pray like everything depends on God and work like everything depends on you.
“For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building. According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 3:9–11, NKJV)
Paul saw the Corinthian Church as field where he was working a the building where he was building. Paul was the wise master builder by the grace of God. Paul gave all of his effort to build something as he labored together with God.
Paul prayed continually for the churches because he trusted God to complete what was started. Take a look at Eph. 1:15-23, Eph. 3:14-21, Col. 1:9-14 and Philippians 1:3-11.
“For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.” (Colossians 1:9–14, NKJV)
Work the works of God and pray the prayers of God. Do godly prayers and godly works. Works without faith bears no spiritual fruit in you, and faith without works is dead.
