The LORD allows the wicked to spring up and blossom because they will be destroyed forever.
“O Lord, how great are Your works! Your thoughts are very deep. A senseless man does not know, Nor does a fool understand this. When the wicked spring up like grass, And when all the workers of iniquity flourish, It is that they may be destroyed forever. But You, Lord, are on high forevermore. For behold, Your enemies, O Lord, For behold, Your enemies shall perish; All the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.” (Psalm 92:5–9, NKJV)
The wicked show themselves as wicked for all to see. They justify the wickedness that they do. They boldly proclaim that they are right and The LORD is wrong. They flaunt the works of the flesh as their right and privilege even if it hurts others. They celebrate their own wickedness and the wickedness of others. Mercy, love and compassion are far from the thoughts of the wicked. Vengeance and justice is their cry as their wickedness exceeds the charges of wrongdoing they make against others.
But God is rich in mercy. God responds to all who seek Him diligently in faith. His love covers multitudes of sins for the repentant heart. With His love, we can be forgiven, we can forgive others, and we can leave the vengeance to Him and to those He has called to exercise that vengeance. Governments are appointed by God to wield the sword of justice. God holds government leaders accountable for that purpose He has given them. If they are wicked, “The curse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked, But He blesses the home of the just.” (Proverbs 3:33, NKJV) “But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,” says the Lord.” (Jeremiah 9:24, NKJV)
