Word Scriptures
The Word of God is alive and powerful!!!!
“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12, NKJV)
“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63, NKJV)
“But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’ ”” (Luke 4:4, NKJV)
“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;” (Ephesians 6:17, NKJV)
Isa. 49:2 says, “He has made my mouth like a sharp sword…”
“Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, And a two-edged sword in their hand, To execute vengeance on the nations, And punishments on the peoples; To bind their kings with chains, And their nobles with fetters of iron; To execute on them the written judgment— This honor have all His saints. Praise the Lord!” (Psalm 149:6–9, NKJV)
The words in people’s mouths can be like swords for evil or for good. The Scripture makes this plain.
“holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.” (Philippians 2:16, NKJV)
“A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, But perverseness in it breaks the spirit.” (Proverbs 15:4, NKJV)
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverbs 18:21, NKJV)
“Whoever guards his mouth and tongue Keeps his soul from troubles.” (Proverbs 21:23, NKJV)
“The truthful lip shall be established forever, But a lying tongue is but for a moment.” (Proverbs 12:19, NKJV)
“Who is the man who desires life, And loves many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it. The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry. The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.” (Psalm 34:12–16, NKJV)
“Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. For “He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”” (1 Peter 3:8–12, NKJV)
“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9–11, NKJV)
“Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man? The goodness of God endures continually. Your tongue devises destruction, Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. You love evil more than good, Lying rather than speaking righteousness. Selah You love all devouring words, You deceitful tongue. God shall likewise destroy you forever; He shall take you away, and pluck you out of your dwelling place, And uproot you from the land of the living. Selah” (Psalm 52:1–5, NKJV)
“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.” But to the wicked God says: “What right have you to declare My statutes, Or take My covenant in your mouth, Seeing you hate instruction And cast My words behind you? When you saw a thief, you consented with him, And have been a partaker with adulterers. You give your mouth to evil, And your tongue frames deceit. You sit and speak against your brother; You slander your own mother’s son. These things you have done, and I kept silent; You thought that I was altogether like you; But I will rebuke you, And set them in order before your eyes. “Now consider this, you who forget God, Lest I tear you in pieces, And there be none to deliver: Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; And to him who orders his conduct (conversation) aright I will show the salvation of God.”” (Psalm 50:15–23, NKJV)
“My tongue shall speak of Your word, For all Your commandments are righteousness.” (Psalm 119:172, NKJV)
“The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, And his tongue talks of justice. The law of his God is in his heart; None of his steps shall slide.” (Psalm 37:30–31, NKJV)
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1, NKJV)
“The sower sows the word.” (Mark 4:14, NKJV)
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.” (Psalm 19:14, NKJV)
